Instructor Webinar

We offer an instructor webinar to help you understand the new DDC 10th Edition program. It’s not mandatory, but we highly encouraged you to view it.

NSC Defensive Driving Virginia 8-hour 10th Edition Transition is Under Way

  • Transition means Training Centers purchase an Instructor Resource Kit for each DDC instructor; instructors are NOT allowed to share and must each have their own kit/manual.
  • Annual DDC multimedia leases are going away – hooray! – but only after you transition all of your instructors over to the new DDC 10th Edition Virginia. For each lease that you have, you may purchase one full Instructor Resource Kit, which includes the new multimedia.
  • The new DDC 10th Edition Instructor Resource Kit will contain all the instructor materials for the Virginia 8-hour program.
  • Multimedia: If you want to play the multimedia on a computer, please get the USB thumb drive option. If you will play the multimedia on an external DVD player, please get the DVD version.
  • NSC no longer offers a classroom-based instructor development courses; all new instructors are required to complete NSC University e-Learning Instructor Development Course (eIDC).
  • Current Instructors transitioning to the new 10th Edition are not required to take the eIDC; this is only for new instructors.
  • The DDC 10th Edition Virginia eIDC has five sessions:
    • Session 1 (3 hours): Principles of Teaching Defensive Driving
    • Session 2 (3 hours): How to Best Facilitate a Classroom Defensive Driving Course
    • Session 3 (2 hours): The psychology of Choice Theory: How to change Driver Behavior.
Note: Part 1 of the book, Choice Theory, must be read before beginning Session 3
    • Session 4 (4 hours): Comprehensive Defensive Driving 10th Edition program
    • Session 5 (1 hour): Virginia-specific materials
IMPORTANT: NSC will make Sessions 4 and 5 available at no cost to any transitioning instructor during the transition period. After March 31, 2021, there will be a fee.
