The Defensive Driving for the Commercial Vehicle Operator (CVO) course, previously called Professional Truck Driver, is a 3-4-hour defensive driving course for commercial vehicle operators. This new name was chosen to better reflect the full range of professional drivers the course serves. The course is designed for commercial vehicle operators who already have professional experience on the road. CVO is not an entry-level course.

This classroom course update was developed through input from instructors of PTD 5th Edition and other key stakeholders, including the NSC Defensive Driving Courses International Advisory Committee.
