It's easy to
say your company cares about safety, but it's much more meaningful to show it. The Safety Standard of ExcellenceSM program, designed by the American Staffing Association and the National Safety Council, encourages staffing firms to adopt workplace safety best practices and to foster and measure continuous improvement.
The program's purpose is to help staffing firms do their part to reduce the rate and severity of temporary workers' injuries, illnesses and fatalities, control staffing firms' workers' compensation costs and raise the safety bar for the staffing industry with respect to job seekers, staffing clients, the government and media. Promoting and ensuring temporary worker safety and well-being is the responsibility of every staffing firm. In 2013, the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration launched its Temporary Worker Initiative. It asserts both host employers and staffing firms have roles in complying with workplace health and safety requirements, and they share responsibility for ensuring worker safety and health. By participating in the Safety Standard of Excellence program, staffing firms, their placed workers and host employers can build knowledge and a mutually beneficial relationship that will:
