Here’s to Our Partners in Safety

A thank you to our members during Member Appreciation Month.

January 14, 2019

As a 15,000-member-strong organization, our members are helping us lead the way toward eliminating preventable deaths in our lifetime. Many of them choose to share their stories right here on Safety First.

During Member Appreciation Month, we want to share a special thank you with our partners in safety. Here are a few ways that our members make a difference:

Making safety a priority means our members pledge to be safe at work by sharing resources and information so that people have the right tools and data to work safely, lead with safety in mind and have the right training in place. It’s no easy task, but someone has to do it!

Employee safety has to come first, no matter the industry you’re in. At the end of the day, it is the people who build, drive and create value who matter. Establishing a safe workplace is becoming increasingly more important for businesses to thrive in today’s world. It’s all part of creating a strong safety culture, and the truth is we need safety leaders now more than ever.

Modern workplaces are fraught with many hazards, but NSC members help keep individuals safe on and off the job by supporting employee health and wellness. Leading organizations recognize that managing stress has benefits far beyond the office. They encourage sleep health, support employees dealing with substance abuse issues and address risks like workplace violence.

Business leaders collaborated in the formation of NSC over 100 years ago, and their legacy lives on today. Keeping employees safe was the foundation of this organization and remains the primary driver of what we do. For many small businesses that can’t afford a full-time safety professional, we are their one-stop-shop for safety training and information, and we are proud to work alongside so many organizations that believe in our joint mission of safety.

Engaging community partners is crucial because safety at work is only half of the equation. While our workplaces have become safer over time, there is so much more we can do to create and sustain safer communities. Our members have partnered with us on Distracted Driving Awareness MonthNational Safety Monthteen driving, opioid initiatives and so much more to make sure safety goes home at the end of the day.

Recognizing excellence with workplace safety awards is one of the best ways we can say thank you to the companies and individuals who help us reach our mission day in and day out. Whether through our Safe Driver recognition, our Rising Stars of Safety or our Green Cross Awards, we are grateful to recognize many companies and individuals every year who help us keep each other safe.

Safety at work, at home and on the road is possible because of the dedication of our members. The first president of NSC, Robert W. Campbell, said that safety is the right way to do things – and together we are committed to creating a world where safety is fundamental to how we work, live and play. If you are an NSC member, thank you for making that mission possible. And if you’re not, then this is the perfect time to join us.

Thank you for being our partners in safety!
