Hot Work, Cool Solutions: Real-world Lessons from Heat Stress Innovation Pilots

As rising temperatures put workers at greater risk for heat-related illnesses and injuries, organizations are increasingly turning to innovative technologies to reduce risk and improve comfort in extreme conditions. Through support from the NSC Work to Zero initiative, in partnership with McElhattan Foundation, six organizations put cutting-edge heat stress solutions to the test, from wearable sensors and active cooling devices to drone-assisted site mapping and thermal-regulating footwear. This session brings together the safety leaders behind these pilots to share real-world results, lessons learned and strategies for successful implementation. Attendees will get a behind-the-scenes look at how each pilot was designed and executed, leaving with practical insights to apply these innovations within their own workplaces.

The Work to Zero initiative at NSC is focused on making innovation more accessible for employers and helping to eliminate fatality risks at work through the use of safety technology, in partnership with McElhattan Foundation. The goal of the Work to Zero Safety Innovation Challenge is to spotlight emerging technologies designed to prevent serious workplace incidents and fatalities.
Run in collaboration with TechConnect, a division of Advanced Technology International, this year's Challenge highlights innovative technologies that can identify, secure and communicate hazardous energy risks in the workplace to drive down rates of injuries and fatalities.
Funded by McElhattan Foundation, the NSC Work To Zero Safety Innovation Challenge and Pilot Grant program are focused on eliminating fatality risk in the workplace through the use of technology.
Across a broad range of industries and occupations, workers rely on technologies to control hazardous energy, informally known as lockout tagout or LoTo. These technologies keep workers safe by preventing exposure to dangerous chemical, electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, pneumatic or thermal energy sources.
