Vice President, Environment, Health & Safety, Boeing Company

Amy May is the vice president of environment, health & safety for The Boeing Company. In this role, she is responsible for strengthening the company’s workplace safety programs and its efforts to improve the environmental performance of Boeing’s global operations, products and services.

Before joining EHS in May 2023, May served for two years as the senior director for commercial airplanes fabrication quality. In this role, she was responsible for leading improvements in both the quality management system and regulatory compliance, with teams located domestically and globally. Previously, she was the general manager of Boeing Canada Winnipeg, which manufactures complex composite parts for every airplane that Boeing Commercial Airplanes produces.

May started her 25+ year Boeing career as an industrial ergonomist supporting multiple airplane models, including the 787 new airplane design, where she and fellow teammates received a patent for a method for managing ergonomic risk exposure in manufacturing. She later led corporate and commercial environment and safety teams responsible for global integration.

May is a graduate of Harvard University’s General Management Program and holds a bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University and a master’s degree from West Virginia, both in industrial engineering. She also maintains certification as a professional ergonomist.
