The National Safety Council has designed cutting-edge Shelter in Place training as part of its comprehensive Emergency Preparedness training so you'll be ready to protect yourself and others in the event of a workplace crisis.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency defines sheltering in place as taking refuge in a small interior room with no or few windows. Employees who take this NSC course will learn what to do if toxic chemicals, oil, gas or radiation are released, and steps for sealing rooms from the threat of harmful airborne contaminants.
The program also details the vital role supervisors play during shelter-in-place emergencies, and how management can take charge of staff safety and security until the threat is eliminated.
Shelter in Place training covers:
This course benefits personnel who work directly with or within the vicinity of potential health hazards, such as toxic chemicals, gases, oils or radiation. Safety professionals, managers and human resources employees also will benefit from this course.
Additional NSC Emergency Preparedness course module topics include weather and natural disasters, evacuation, medical emergencies, workplace violence, active shooter, terrorism emergencies, and communication before and after emergencies.
