NSC Assessment and Benchmarking Study

The NSC Assessment and Benchmarking Study has been a member benefit since it was developed and launched in 2016. The study is designed to provide NSC members with a FREE tool to evaluate their current safety operations and benchmark their activities and performance against other NSC member companies. The study has also been a powerful tool for the Council to understand the backgrounds and needs of its members, and to develop and provide relevant and effective programs, tips and training to keep workforces safe.

Questions are organized into four categories - Planning, Enabling, Managing and Performance - based on the NSC EHS Organizational Maturity Model. This structure will further help you assess the current state of your safety program, identify potential gaps and determine next steps for continuous safety improvement. Our objective is to partner with you to get to the next level in your organization’s journey toward safety excellence.

Once you enter your data, you will learn:

  • Level of executive engagement and leadership approach
  • Top challenges to safety improvement
  • How your safety budget and staffing levels compare
  • Tools most commonly used to identify hazards
  • Which leading indicators are being tracked
  • The effectiveness of leading indicators in identifying corrective actions
  • Most pressing safety and health issues

After the data collection period for all member companies ends (around April 15), you can access custom reports and presentations to help you create a plan that helps reduce incidents, improve compliance and increase productivity.

If you're a member, just log in to access the tool.
